Organization of the Management Level

The delivery level we talked about is focused on producing the deliverables. There’s a level above it, called management level. It’s about the day to day management of the project and is mainly focused on stages, rather than small Work Packages.

The Project Manager is in this level. They are responsible for coordinating and supporting the project team to use the resources properly and meet the targets of the project. Targets are time, cost, scope, quality, and so on. 

If a project is too small and simple, the same person can be assigned to both the Project Manager role and the Team Manager role. 

If the project is large and complex, a single person might not be enough for doing all the project management activities. That’s why we also have a Project Support role, for those who help the Project Manager. 

Before proceeding to the directing level, let me ask you an important question: do you expect the project manager to be business oriented, or technical? Or even a more general question: what types of people do we have in projects?
